If you’re looking for a less permanent but still beautiful way to replace a few teeth or even an entire arch, dentures may be the solution for you. Our Ada, MI, dentists offer both full and partial dentures depending on what you need. Either choice is removable but should be cared for when not in use to avoid cracking or warping.
Dentures are dental appliances that replace lost teeth. They come in two forms: full and partial. Full dentures are ideal for patients who are missing the upper and lower arch of teeth while partials are great when only a few teeth are gone. Traditionally, dentures are made soon after tooth removal if teeth are not already missing. If needed, immediate dentures can be placed right after teeth are extracted. Our dentists can discuss your treatment plan with you so you’re aware of what to expect.
To ensure the best quality, it may take a few weeks to fabricate a pair of dentures. We’ll start by taking digital impressions of your jaw and make a note of how your jaws fit together. A temporary model will then be made which we’ll have you try on to assess the color, shape, and fit. Finally, the final full or partial dentures are created and adjustments are made. Don’t worry if you notice minor irritation, soreness, a loose feeling, or excess saliva after first starting to wear your new dentures. These are all completely normal symptoms and they will go away after a few weeks of practice. We recommend watching yourself speak in the mirror to get used to how they feel as you pronounce words and cutting your foods into smaller pieces for easier chewing.
Our dentists in Ada, MI, believe in the highest quality care and our removable dentures are no different. We make sure they’re custom-fit specifically for you so you can enjoy your new smile to the fullest. Call Norman Family Dentistry today at (616) 676-9177 to get started and request an appointment.
